Samsung, the largest handset vendor in the world, is approaching the release of yet another extremely popular Android phone, the recently announced Samsung Galaxy S III.
Korea Economic Daily is reporting that the Samsung Galaxy S III has received over 9 million pre-orders from 100 carriers around the world. This information comes courtesy of a Samsung official who remains anonymous.
The Galaxy S III boasts a massive 4.8-inch Super AMOLED 1,280-by-720 display, and runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It features an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and 1.9-megapixel front-facing one.
Samsung said you can take up to 20 shots on a burst mode, while a new feature known as Best Photo will automatically select the best photo out of a burst of eight. For more about the device, see 10 Coolest Features of the Samsung Galaxy S III.
Samsung last quarter shipped 92 million handsets, overtaking Nokia to become the world’s top cell phone maker. In February, Samsung revealed that sales of its Galaxy S II smartphone had reached 20 million.
And while the Galaxy S III is the next big thing from Samsung, you might hear about a Galaxy Lunge or Galaxy Wield at some point in the future. IntoMobile reported that Samsung earlier this month submitted trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the Galaxy Lunge, Galaxy Forge, Galaxy Wield, Galaxy Mission, Galaxy Rivet, and the Galaxy Victory.
